Based on the life events of famed Haitian Radio DJ, Jean Dominque, who used the air waves to spew political opinions and rally a nation to fight for democracy.

SYNOPSIS:

For over 30 years, Haitian radio D.J. Jean Dominique and his wife Michele’ Montas used the radio waves to become the voice of the people. Speaking out against violence, corruption, and the need for democracy in the poverty torn country of the 80’s and 90’s. He faced death threats, assassination attempts, exiles and the opposition of the powerful who tried to quash his always rising popularity.

Radio Haiti is a triumphant yet tragic story of a lowly radio station employee who took over a bankrupt radio station with his journalist wife and turned it’s microphone into the most powerful weapon the people had ever known. Using his daily radio talk show to spew political opinions, he inspired a nation to fight for and win it’s democracy. The story highlights the key events in the last 20 years of his career and focuses on the last few months of the shocking ending to his career in 2001.
