DAVID - THE KUNG FU KID

DAVID - THE KUNG FU KID
By Simon Iliopoulos

GENRE: Action
LOGLINE:

A juvenile loner defies his mentor’s guidance and fights his way through the brutal streets to become a martial arts champion, but soon learns that the most significant battles aren’t won in the ring; they’re fought within.

SYNOPSIS:

Seventeen-year-old David is a runaway, angry, gifted, and lost. Living on the edge of the city, he survives by his fists until he’s discovered by an aging monk and martial arts master, a man who once fought in the ring but has since devoted his life to peace. Seeing something of his own past in the boy’s defiance, the master takes David under his wing, teaching him that strength means nothing without control, and that every fight begins, and ends, within.

For a while, David finds direction. But old wounds run deep. Haunted by memories of abuse and failure, and desperate to prove his worth, he abandons the monastery’s quiet discipline for the brutal chaos of the underground fight scene, where blood buys respect and pain earns applause.

As David climbs the ranks, he becomes both feared and admired, yet the higher he rises, the more he loses sight of himself. With a championship bout ahead that could change everything, he finds himself torn between the world that saved him and the one that’s destroying him.

In the end, David must fight not for victory, but for redemption, because the greatest battle isn’t in the ring….it’s in the soul of the fighter.
