The first episode of Cabbagetown Confidential opens in present-day Toronto as a dying ex-cop and private detective, MITCH MANCINI (63), regretfully retells his past misdeeds during his forty years on the Toronto Police Force. The story begins in 1988 when Mitch was undercover in the Hell’s Hounds, a notorious motorcycle club, and about to meet a big-time drug dealer in Toronto's seedy district of Cabbagetown. Mitch (29) and his fellow prospect and undercover rookie, BISHOP (25), wait with full-time members; BIG BASS (30s), FREDDY DIAMOND (early 30s), and APACHE (mid-20s). Complications arise when Bishop's cover is made by the dealer, THEODORE SOURIS (30s), and Mitch fakes Bishop's death. Later Mitch finds Souris raping a young reporter, SUE BELL (21), in an alley. Mitch draws his gun, ready to shoot the rapist. And WHAM! Someone knocks Mitch out cold.

Flash forward to 2014. Through narration, 2022 Mitch tells about his struggle to set up shop as a private detective with his own firm - Cabbagetown Confidential Investigations. Mitch also receives a terminal medical diagnosis and begins to reconsider his life. Filled with guilt and shame, he tracks down Sue (47) to make amends for abandoning her rape case in 1988. Mitch's assistant/niece, KATIE MANCINI-WHEELER (21), aspires to be a detective and sees Sue's case as her big break. However, Mitch fears she'll uncover his past, so he distracts her with an insurance fraud case. Mitch then meets with Sue, who hires him to secure her property and find evidence of a Stalker. After finding nothing and questioning the Stalker's existence, she throws him out, and he drives off in a huff. With Mitch gone, the STALKER breaks in and attacks her. Mitch returns to defend her, and the Stalker flees, but Mitch's sickness hinders him, so he only snaps a photo of the Stalker's vehicle before collapsing.

The next morning Mitch comes to and notices the Stalker’s "TORONTO" patch from an unknown motorcycle club. Sue points Mitch at Souris, a mayoral candidate, and her former rapist, but this leads nowhere. Later Mitch discovers the Stalker's vehicle and tracks down its owner, ELI ADAMS (mid-40s). Mitch interrogates Eli only to reach another dead-end. He follows a hunch and matches the mystery patch to the Hell's Hounds - confirming that the Stalker is associated with the notorious motorcycle gang of Mitch’s past. Mitch, still in good graces with the club, goes back undercover and earns the trust of Big Bass (50s) and Freddy (mid-50s). Once in, he learns of Big Bass’ violent past and threats he made to Sue. However, Mitch sees that Freddy runs Sue off the road. The case unravels, and Mitch realizes too late that Eli is Apache, a formerly disgraced Hell's Hound, who is framing Freddy.

Meanwhile, Katie solved her own case and tails Apache. He catches her and forces Mitch to trade her life for Sue's. With no other options, Mitch and his sister/Katie's mom, DANIELLA MANCINI (50s), pull off a risky rescue plan. They succeed, but Mitch takes on Apache himself. He almost dies, but Freddy saves him. Both Apache and Big Bass are brought to justice. Riding on the high of helping Sue, Mitch makes a list of all those he wronged and vows to help them. We end with Mitch's narration, hinting Mitch's failure to apprehend Souris will lead to the destruction of Cabbagetown.
