The world is facing extinction. A dark deity wants the life force on Earth to add to his power and that of his brothers. Shira, whose ultimate destiny is to become a Helper, is sent back from the bottom of the ocean to vanquish the dark deity. As soon as Shira emerges from the ocean, she encounters a man by the beach who offers to help her. No longer familiar with the world, after eleven years in the ocean and with no where to go, Shira accepts the strangers help. There is something mysterious and ominous about him but at the same time, he is the most considerate person. As time passes, Shira realizes the man has power, a power she can’t comprehend. Shira thinks of leaving but decides against it because in the new world she now lives, anomalies require a close inspection. Shira hates that she was abducted from her family and was never given a choice to choose her own path in life. But as she works on achieving her objective, Shira unwittingly begins her journey as a Helper. In doing so, she discovers a strength in her that doesn’t accept or get deterred by failure and fear…a drive to do whatever it takes to accomplish her objective for the greater good. The more people she saves the more she comes to realize that the world needs her. A visit from deities sheds light on who her protector is…the deity who threatens her world. Her anger at herself for not realizing what Ethren is, for falling for him and the anger she feels for Ethren who has known all along who she is, is too great for her to fear him. Putting her feelings for Ethren aside she fights for her world. Unfortunately, Ethren as deity, is too powerful for Shira. When she fails to kill him, she leaves his home and goes back to the ocean. Feeling like a failure, Shira wonders what the point of her is, if she can’t do what she has been called to do. Unbeknownst to Shira, her dauntless initiative in the face of danger, her ability to adapt and her compassion had already altered the deity’s decision to destroy her world. When he demands that she be returned to him, It is difficult for her to accept that he has deviated from his original plan. But she was taught to believe that everything always works out, she decides to believe in him and trust Mairena who also taught her that physical fighting isn’t the only way to do battle. But the world still faces a great threat. Other deities want to see Earth destroyed, so they can obtain its power. Shira and Ethren have to be the world’s defenders. Together they fight and conquer. Resulting in Ethren having to cut ties with his brothers for Shira and her world. Ethren believes in her, in humanity and thinks it would be quite a loss to the universe if Earth was abolished.
