SYNOPSIS:
A narration of the History and secrets of Bethelar is spoken describing the beauty and enchantment of a place from long ago, but its beauty didn’t last.
Following the tragic death of his mother and little sister, due to a horrible car accident in which he survived but put him in a coma for months, Max hasn’t spoken since he came out of his coma, and has spent the last seven years in an orphanage for boys, run by an abusive, and horrifying, Mrs. Itzel. Although Max has special gifts that he doesn't understand, the only way he’s surviving is from the help and support of his best friend Devan, who has a Napoleon complex because of his small stature, and Mrs. Itzel’s assistant Ms. Thompson, who for some reason is very fond of Max. Devan insults McCoy, who is one of Max’s biggest enemies, which now puts a target on his and Max’s back. Max gets upset with Devan due to the previous conversation with Ms. Thompson about keeping off the radar. As Max walks off, leaving Devan alone, a mysterious gust of wind takes his papers out of his hands. As he goes to pick them up he is approached by McCoy and company. Led by a prophecy he heard in class Max started having visions of war, seeing things that had not yet happened. He felt somehow connected to the prophecy but didn’t know why. Ms. Thompson finds out some disturbing news about Devan’s sudden departure from the orphanage. Max finds out as well and as Max’s emotions starts flaring, suddenly the sun was hidden by dark clouds as if a bad storm was bruin. Max is abruptly startled by the bedroom door closing, the darkness goes away and immediately the skies are clear again. He turns to find Mrs. Itzel standing by the door. She has been noticing his special talents, and decides to figure them out and use them for her own bidding. Ms. Thompson hears about Max and helps him escape the orphanage. Mrs. Itzel sends a group of boys led by McCoy to capture Max, but as Max approaches a cliff McCoy tries to make Max feel small by telling him he’s nothing and no one will ever want him so he should just come back with him to the orphanage. Max would rather die than go back to that place so he takes a leap of faith that takes him to a place far beyond his wildest dreams and yet a place of familiarity.

Despite all of that, Prince Edward is convinced by his uncle Luther who knows how much he loves and misses his horse, to not be afraid and that going, at least to the stables, wouldn’t be so bad. Luther also shares with him the secret of sneaking out which Edward followed to the T. Abayah saw Edward being suspicious and followed him not knowing where he was headed.
