A mega movie star experiencing burnout seeks rejuvenation at a new age spiritual resort and ends up finding God and his divine purpose, to the horror of his agent and the industry that has been sustained by riding his coattails to success.

SYNOPSIS:

Mega movie star, Maximus McMillan, receives a visit from God while he is taking a respite from his busy shooting schedule at a spiritual resort in Wyoming. During their daily walks around the spa grounds, God and Maximus become real chummy. God convinces Maximus to pursue His plan for Maximus' life, which means he has to ditch show business completely.

This spells bad news for all the industry professionals who receive very generous salaries, benefits, and perks based on Maximus' substantial marketability and clout: his agent, business manager, accountants, entertainment lawyers, personal chefs, butlers, housekeepers, groundskeepers, personal assistants, and paid entourage (cosmetic dentists, personal trainers, estheticians, manicurists, pedicurists, plastic surgeons, make-up artists, hair stylists, colorists, and wardrobe stylists) that keep him looking hot and camera ready.

Maximus’ staff, led by his manager and three assistants, conspire to keep him in the game by hiring a lookalike to “play” Maximus until the real Maximus can be convinced to return to Hollywood. To preserve their lucrative careers, they must stave off the Hollywood reporters who have gotten wind that something may be going awry.

The linchpin in this ruse is Bart, a regular dude that happens to be Maximus' doppelganger. Bart is offered a huge sum of money to eliminate the debt he acquired to pay for his late wife's medical bills and funeral. Bart undergoes a physical make-over and training to look and act just like Maximus. He turns out to be a quick study, but not all the staff are apprised of the plan. Maximus' house and business staff and film coworkers are purposely kept in the dark to ensure that no one leaks his real status to the media.

Feeling bad for suddenly deserting his whole staff, Maximus returns home to thank everyone for their years of loyalty and service and to say goodbye. He crashes a staff meeting and learns of the ruse to cover his extended absence. He is angry, but doesn't change his mind — he's still intent on carrying out God's plan for his life.

God's plan is for Maximus to use his considerable wealth to build a school in Kenya. The byproduct of building this school is constructing a massive drainage system, which saves several nearby villages consisting of thousands of people from inevitable drought and starvation.

Bart has been enjoying his new life as a celebrity, so he graciously offers to permanently stay on as "Maximus" so the staff can keep their jobs, and Maximus can start his new life of service guilt-free. Maximus agrees, and immediately starts executing plans to build his school.

At Maximus' side is his First Assistant, Debbie, who has since publicly acknowledged her feelings for him — and the feelings are mutual. They open the school together and are overwhelmed with the need, positive response, and support from the nearby villages. Tired of the Hollywood rat race, Mike Lowenthal, joins them.

Bart also finds love — with the Executive House Manager, Alma — who gets upgraded to Hollywood housewife status!
