SYNOPSIS:

SYNOPSIS; THE GARDENER

On a cold, raw October night a judge is gruesomely murdered and his son in law, a district attorney, is abducted. Thirty five minutes later a wealthy businessman turned congressional candidate is murdered at his own fund raising event. DETECTIVES ED KING and TOM SIMON are called into the investigation. Simon, a night school law student, and homicide detective feels there is more to the story than murder and extortion. Forty minutes later another man is brutally slashed outside a gay bar fifteen miles away from the second murder.

King, an older detective with demons of his own, does not think the murders are fully related but Simon figures out one major fact; all the savage killings were done with outdoor/ landscape construction implements. King rationalizes thinks it’s a psycho running loose throughout Nassau County but Simon thinks there is definitely something else going on than meets the eye. As they begin to set their teeth into the investigation a third person is murder, this time a former NFL player stabbed in his own gym. The computer savvy Simon pieces together a pattern between all the victims and a murder trial six years earlier where a man was wrongly convicted of a double homicide. It was not until after he was executed, five years to the day, another man confessed to the crime. King feels that the murders are related to the innocent man but Simon explains to him that none of the immediate family members are alive. They all died suddenly after the execution.

A serious problem arises for Simon. His beautiful girlfriend was a jury member on the same trial! As the bodies begin to add up, Simon and King race to catch the killer who has become more and more adapt at eluding the police and leaving no clues nor witnesses. Simon deduces that the killer may have been planning this for the past five years because all the murders and exit strategies have been detailed to the letter. Now it's not only a murder case to Simon, it has become extremely personal and a race against time!

Simon and King, through some good old fashion police work and with a little bit of luck and timing have found a suspect, but the puzzle isn't totally connected and Simon through a chain of events has become as vengeful as the killer.
