In this coming-of-age dramedy, a defiant Mexican teen witch-in-training attempts to wield her unruly magic trying to protect herself and crush from her mother’s newly awoken power.
SYNOPSIS:
After Eva, Rayna’s incredibly Catholic mother clairvoyantly has a nightmare about Rayna practicing magic on their rooftop – she awakens to find that her nightmare has come true. During the wrath of her mother, Rayna breaks the fourth wall to confide in her best friend (the audience), and introduces us to her mystical world filled with auras, chaos and unrequited love.
Within the pilot, an ill-equipped Rayna struggles to wield her unruly powers through her aura. Soon enough - against the sound advice of Linda - Rayna figures out a “magical short-cut” through her hormones and is now forced with a moral dilemma.
Does she heed Linda’s advice and practice magic organically and properly? Or does she let her infatuation with Chris consume her (for better or worse)?
As Rayna teeter-totters ethically, her mother’s own magical powers awaken and she becomes Rayna’s number one antagonist. Unbeknownst to Eva, Rayna’s mother (and figured out by Rayna at the end of the pilot) – Eva unintentionally practices magic that binds herself to both Rayna and Chris.
