A group of study abroad students are lured to a night of agony and ecstasy at the hands of a cult of shapeshifters who worship Dionysus through sex, drugs, and human sacrifice. 

SYNOPSIS:

A visceral version of the myth of PENTHEUS and the MAENADS (monstrous women) plays out in a cinematic prologue - daydreamed by CODY during his myth course with his roommate HUNTER. JAZ and her bestie AMANDA join in the class discussion about the relevance of myths before they are dismissed for Spring Break. Hunter invites Amanda and Jaz along to Cody's family weekend in Thebes. Although Cody and Amanda have obvious chemistry, he's weirdly reluctant for her to come along. He does agree, but seems burdenend…

En route, they meet a group of older students, GRANT, his crush NATALIA and her third-wheel boyfriend SEB. Cody has a cryptic phone call and invites the new group to the party too despite clearly disliking Grant. They arrive at an incredible villa - the exact same one from Cody’s daydream. He greets one of the Maenads from the prologue and we realize he is in on whatever terrible thing is about to happen. But Cody never meant to include Amanda, and he spends the rest of the time before the party trying to talk to different Maenads to find a way to save her without giving away his intention. He goes all the way up the chain to Dionysus himself, but chickens out and instead plans to run off with Amanda in secret. Careful, Cody. Gods don’t like it when you touch their toys.

Meanwhile, the other relationships are tested during the party as first Grant separates from Natalia and Seb, and Jaz calls out Amanda for being a wet blanket. When Grant gets too close to the forest, enchanted vines drag him away. Amanda goes out to wait for Cody, but she’s attacked by a Maenad, and both she and Grant are prepped as human sacrifices. But Hunter and Jaz are still partying hard and have no idea. Hunter peels off with some hot new friends, and Jaz meets a mysterious STRANGER, who we later realize is Dionysus walking among them. Their chemistry is undeniable, and they sneak away to have sex when the party makes its location change to the forest temple.

Cody tries one more time to save Amanda, but his earlier cowardice made it too little too late.

Stranger reveals his true nature to the crowd and initiates the ritual hunt by sacrificing Amanda and Grant. He gives Jaz the chance to join him as a new Maenad, but she bolts. She and Cody run into each other in the forest. He tries to trade her life for his, but is killed by the Maenads. Jaz expects the same fate, and is shocked when the monsters leave her alone. She realizes they smell their god on her skin, and her risky behavior saved her life. She goes to confront Stranger and strikes him with a mythical object that she believes kills him. But when she and the other survivors try to tell the police, they discover there is no sign of the house or Cody’s entire family line. Jaz has no choice but to head home, forever changed… with Stranger on her heels.
