SYNOPSIS:
Identical twin sisters Haley and Judith are separated at birth. One day they reunite as adults. Jealousy and inner resentment emerge leading to a clash. Haley is raised by wealthy parents and becomes self-indulgent, and manipulative. She is endowed with a powerful charismatic personality she uses to influence others. She becomes the leader of a desert cult “Open World Church.” She changes her name to Halius. Meanwhile, Judith grows up in abusive foster care and begins her early years as a classic underdog struggling for acceptance.
In time, Judith leaves the foster care system sets out to Venice Beach. She is encountered by members of the Open World Church and accepts their invitation to visit the desert cult community. As an identical twin to Haley, she is often mistaken for the cult leader. (note) The only thing that separates the twin sisters apart is that Judith has a birthmark on her left arm. This detail will play a significant part in the story's climax. In time, Judith learns that Haley has dementia. Judith sees this as her opportunity to trade places with her identical twin and gain the power, status, and acceptance she was denied in life. Her personality changes to become the bad seed. Jealousy consumes her, and a struggle for power begins to control the Open World Church. A hidden twist to the story is that Cult leader Halius wears a pure silver sash signifying her leadership. The silver sash also relates to the thirty pieces of silver that Judas traded for Jesus.
Meanwhile, a plot is made to abduct Helius. Judidas orders her coconspirators to steal the silver sash. As the abduction is taking place cult followers known as the Wanderers gather at the canyon area. The coconspirator who has removed the silver sash from Halius refuses to turn it over to Judidus. A struggle occurs on the cliff overlooking the group of Wanderers. In the struggle to hold onto the silver sash, the coconspirator falls from the cliff. In the meantime, cult leader Halius breaks free and struggles with sister Judidus while white-robed Wanderers watch below. The struggle ends as one is thrown to the ground below. Followers watching the scene do not know which one of the two left standing is the real leader. The one standing raises her arms to the sky to begin the annual cleansing ceremony. Her white robe is blood-stained, As the wind gently blows, the left sleeve of her robe moves, and a birthmark is revealed. As the camera moves away, the movement of two bodies is shown below the cliff leaving the audience guessing and waiting for a sequel.
