The brutally graphic stories of Ehud, the left handed man; Deborah and Sisera; and Micah’s Levite for Hire; set the stage for Israel’s demand that God appoint Saul as King over Israel.  Following Saul’s coming to power, human greed and vanity caused him to disobey God.  As a result, Samuel anoints David as the second King, which action eventually causes Saul to lose his mind, the kingdom and his life.
