In the 25th century the human race still needs heroes, if no hero is available one will be provided even if they have to die first.

In the 25th Century real human nature has not changed, the best way to solve a political argument is still to hit each other on the head with rocks.

Human expansion and stupidity have continued from where it left off on earth with petty wars and arguments with usual excuses of seeking power and influence over others. The human race is spread wide across the systems and stars, 200 worlds, moons and planets now make up the human habitat.

The arrival of the Naal came as a shock to the human colonists and established worlds now called home. It has taken a combined effort by multiple systems worlds to hold the Naal back and defeat them from time to time. The struggle has been good for the human condition as it has unified the distant worlds under a single threat.

Necessity and adversity have resulted in the human race making rabid progress in science, commerce, communication and politics, due to the ever clear and present danger of the Naal. But human nature remains the same.

In time of conflict leaders come to the fore, that can unite the people against the common foe. Sometimes these conflict leaders are not the best to lead in time of peace.

Heroes are not born; they need the right circumstances to make them the leaders of the masses. Heroes are born not knowing their future and the roles they will play, sometimes they need a push in the right direction.

If the Naal didn't exist someone or something would have to invent them, MAYBE something did. The next generation of leaders will also be manufactured from the raw materials available, maybe by selective breading if necessary.

After the conflict may come a time of peace and prosperity for everyone.
