SYNOPSIS:

A gay writer of romance novels,living in Rome, using a pseudonym, Holly Hollingsworth battles his greedy siblings out to black mail him into giving up his inheritence and the rights to his pppular book series. As in Tootsie, Rob had to change his gender to get published, his agent telling him that the public was not ready for romance novels depicting the escapades of a gay man. For decades he achieved fame and fortune very secretely hiding his identity. His mother's recent death causes his family to clash; they threaten to expose him unless he gives into their demands. To escape this controntation and also due to a drop inthe sales of his books, being told, they are too "old fashioned." he decides to return to Italy to write the screen version of the " new Holly.'" There hs hooks up with an old lover, Phil who demands that he come out, dropping his charade to live and love openly as a gay man, telling Rob, "It's either Holly or me. You can't have both." Rob surrenders to love beginning a new, happier life, certain of love, but having to change the gender of Holly, "killing " her to celebrate his new found identity.
