In a futuristic setting, a handsome young graduate begins his life in a dystopian society designed to keep people away from making the same mistakes that destroyed the planet before, mistakes that largely stemmed from free choice. As a result, a rebellious Japath decides to pursue his own choices, which result in catastrophic circumstances for him, his closest friends, and potentially the future of the human race when the A.I. confronts him.
SYNOPSIS:
A lab worker displays 6 cryogenically frozen embryos. He types, "6 Perfect Matches Reverse Cryostasis, Life Cycle Begins". Cuts to an attractive young man, Japath, as he finishes an exam. He asks to go outside and is answered by a voice.
A futuristic dystopian world is portrayed where males and females are genetically designed for one another, thereby eliminating the need for mating rituals or falling in love. Japath is unsatisfied with this arrangement. His eyes turn to Sadie, a girl that's not meant for him. Together, they manipulate the system to end up together, leaving their "would be" matches on their own to be paired with others.
The scene cuts to Japath and Sadie after 20 years of being together, and there's trouble in paradise as they fight and express depression and hostility. They are paired with "surrogates" for a prescribed amount of time to work out their issues with themselves so that they can eventually be paired again with their assigned mates.
The surrogates are Manuel and Ada, and after much soul searching, Japath and Sadie decide to move in with their temporary spouses. Daily life with the new matches is bliss for the couples, better than anyone expected. As time goes on, they begin to "love" their surrogates, even though it's forbidden. The constant danger of being captured and going into a cryogenic prison looms.
Their mutual friend, Hamad, who's been paired with Na'el, knows what they've done, and eventually the truth dramatically comes out among the 6 of them. The original 4 plan to escape into what they believe is the recently terraformed part of Earth, transformed after most of the planet became uninhabitable.
Due to DNA collection, a group of scientists created clone embryos of the Earth's "best of the best" to populate Earth 2, but one the way, the A.I., C.U.P.I.D., researches why humans have a self-destructive tendency to pursue the "7 Deadly Sins" and choose momentary pleasure and satisfaction over the survival of the society.
The 6 human clones of the original scientists, named after the sons of Noah, (Ham, Sam and Japath) are devastated to learn of their predicament, and despair as they see their "real" bodies hooked up to wires inside pods of amniotic fluid, but the old guard explains to them that their essence shall live on as their clones are recreated over and over until their final versions shall settle on Earth 2, for mankind's second chance.
The couples declare their love for one another against a virtual desert scenario, and after they disappear, the film ends with the A.I. developing 6 new versions of these humans.
As he sees the 6 new embryos begin their life cycle, he says, "See you soon, old friends."
The spaceship carries on its journey and as it passes, the name is printed on it's helm. "Congress on United Planetary and Interstellar Discovery"
