After a former child star and a diffident law student are put together for a social experiment, the two women form a bond but start a questionable relationship. With doubt causing one of them to be pushed over the edge to lose their sanity.

SYNOPSIS:

The big question is who was Brenda's first client?

Cody, a former child actor has been under her therapist watch for months since being arrested for disturbing the peace. With nothing much to do, her therapist, Olivia arranges for her niece, Brenda to take her under her wing and keep her out of trouble. With her bar exam closing in, Brenda goes along with the deal for her psychology class.

Slowly, Cody opens up, surviving her mother's abuse towards her while she was a child actor. With the idea of what Cody needs, Brenda agrees with Olivia to be friends with Cody. Along the way, Cody helps Brenda develop a sense of style, changes her look and these alarm Olivia, explaining that Cody is never going to change, that her behavior is going to go on until one of them gets hurt. Rather than listen to reason, Brenda goes out with Cody to enjoy the day, have fun and start an unintentional relationship. Torn between her life and career, Brenda avoids Cody which cause Cody to feel alone and stops taking her medication.

While taking a visit at the grocery store, grabbing some food, a produce is assaulted by Cody for grabbing her. Detained and taken to the hospital for mental health evaluation, Cody is observed by Olivia and Brenda. Due to her daughter's latest outburst, Catherine, Cody's mother, is visited by Brenda. Informing her that Cody is in a safe place and will not be out. After being left, unintended, Cody escapes the hospital and kidnaps Olivia along with Catherine. Arriving home from a busy day, leaving Brenda in the dark and becomes the next one to be taken hostage.

A setup for a court, Cody plays the judge well Brenda acts a witness and has to watch Catherine and Olivia as the defendants. Cody executes Catherine by shooting her. Brenda breaks free and tackles Cody into a swimming pool.

With her former client in a mental institution and now married, Brenda is happy with her career as a family law lawyer and at becoming a soon to be mother.

Cody develops to her life in a mental institution and meeting a young man name Josiah. Tired of their therapist's bad treatment, Josiah strangles Oriana and escapes with Cody. Now knowing Cody is free, Brenda is less worried and knows Cody will not attempt to go after her.

Josiah and Cody get cleaned up at a truck stop but are approached by a state trooper, leaving Cody to abandon Josiah due to his violent behavior. A quick trip to a gas station, but unaware Josiah is right behind her. A gun fight erupts, sending Cody to act fast, blowing Josiah's fingers off. Nothing to save him from Cody, she executes him but is shot by a state trooper in the process. With all her strength to escape, Cody is snuck into Mexico by a pig farmer and is bandaged up. Now across the border and able to move on, Cody sends a postcard to Brenda. Thanks to the pig farmer, Cody is given an old car and makes her way further.

Olivia and Brenda have a session together and Brenda confesses that she imagined Cody as a woman, becoming her sexual experience. The whole time Cody is a man that Brenda developed a relationship with. Cody's postcard arrives and Brenda hides it in her shoebox. Brenda has dinner with her husband, Nick, appreciating what she has now.

Across the south of Mexico, Cody intakes the peace he has now, dwelling on the time he spent with Brenda.
