A sheriff employing unorthodox police procedures, an unlicensed doctor who goes beyond what is right, and a school principal who battles the system for the benefit of his underprivileged students work their talismanic powers to achieve their individual achievements.
SYNOPSIS:
KENT ALSTON is a kinder, gentler version of Joe Clark from the movie, “Lean on Me.” He is a man on a mission. Using his special magical charm, Kent pushes his students beyond their aspirations. PROF, as his students call him, does not accept failure or mediocrity. He is an imposing leader who is respected and feared by the white community. Receiving very little financial resources, he defies the status quo, and raises monies by inviting black celebrities to his school. Who are these famous celebrities?
Do you Believe in Hoodoo? In addition to fighting for his students, our hero also deals with the practices of witchcraft and evil spirits in the community. STEPHANEY ROBINSON known as DOCTOR BUZZARD has the gift, the mantle as we call it. If you are the recipient of an evil spell from him, you are as good as dead. For years, he avoids being prosecuted because there is no law against casting spells.
Doctor Buzzard’s mistake is going up against the HIGH SHERIFF of Beaufort, EDWARD MCTEER. The residents of the sleepy town of Beaufort believe he has the mantle too. What kind of Sheriff would not carry a gun? The residents, especially the Gullah, witness his ability to remove spells and roots. To them, he is the High Prince.
How does PROF transform his school into an amazing place to learn? Does the High Sheriff bring down Doctor Buzzard? How does Prof cross the lives of these two talismanic men? How does each of these three extraordinary REAL men work their mojo?
