THE ECHO OF US
By Rhian Morgan

GENRE: Science Fiction, Drama
LOGLINE:

In a surveillance state where AI suppresses human emotion, a neurodivergent analyst who can perceive the system’s blind spots forms a forbidden emotional link with a state enforcer, triggering a phenomenon the AI cannot predict, contain, or understand.

SYNOPSIS:

Available as a pilot, 10-part series with franchise potential, or a self-contained movie. The Echo of Us is set in a parallel dystopian state, after a viral pandemic has left society unstable. In an attempt to control the population, a shadowy tech consortium uses AI and Enforcers to police relationships. A neurovarianced analyst, Rowan Hale, spots an anomaly that brings her to an Enforcer-turned-tech-engineer, Malachi Feldman - and their bond is instant. Immediately logged by the AI, Obsidia, as a threat, their bond triggers constant surveillance. Caught in an obsessional but reciprocal limerance, they struggle to stay apart, and their unique bond triggers an entity within Obsidia that codes them into the system.

Malachi bears the scars, both physical and mental, of what the state will do to protect itself. They are left with no alternative but to fight a system that wants to liquidize the threat. Along the way, they have to learn which colleagues to trust: are Arden and Lex all that they seem? Will the state director, Dr Kerr, be able to stop the biggest threat to society he has faced since the Smythe Incident? And is the AI at the heart of the system able to be controlled?

The movie and the series have different endings and take different paths.

Logline for movie:

In a surveillance state where emotional attachment is illegal, two ministry officials, Rowan and Malachi, form a forbidden connection that triggers an unknown entity threatening the state. When the system moves to erase Malachi, Rowan risks everything to reconstruct him from the memory they share.

This sounds incredibly interesting Rhian Morgan. I love dystopian sagas.
