When a special forces Marine returns to her hometown to care for her dying father, she is forced to face demons from her past and take on a new threat: An anarchist extremist group taking over her town.
SYNOPSIS:
NOVA REDD (20s), a Marine Raider with PTSD, returns to her recently anarchist infested hometown to care for her terminally ill father. She finds her father, ELIAS (60), living in filth in his trailer, with her caretaker brother, CAM(30s), nowhere to be found. Nova goes to her black sheep of a brother’s apartment , finding him in he middle of partying, gets her father’s prescription and goes to the local pharmacy to get it filled where she thwarts some anarchist punks harassing an old man outside.
Nova runs into her old therapist, KATHLEEN HOWARD (50’s) in the parking lot and Kathleen offers to help if theres anything she can do.
Elias is resigned to his fate and tells Nova he wants to be buried with her mother’s rose pendant. He doesn’t know where it is exactly but figures it should be somewhere in the trailer.
Cam admits he gave the pendant to DAGON, the anarchist leader and they devise a plan to meet with him in his HQ at the local abandoned high school.
Nova convinces DAGON that she’ll join his organization. He is skeptical, but offers to let her do some “loan collecting” work. She agrees and when she arrives at the location given to her, Sheriff Tannin is there with some goons and starts a fight with Nova. She finishes them off and takes the money Dagon is owed. Upon returning with the money, she spots her mother’s rose pendant in Dagon’s office and eventually pockets it. Dagon is on to her, and interrogates her while having her beat up. During this, Nova flashes back to age 12, where she was abducted and tortured by a drug addict vagrant with a knife. Nova fights her way out of Dagon’s headquarters and speeds off on her motorcycle.
Nova heads to the therapist’s office after and Kathleen allows her to hide her bike and tends to her wounds, where Nova’s “dissociative condition” is revealed. Nova shrugs it off, but Kathleen warns that it’s a progressive condition linked to her past trauma and will only get worse. Nova returns to her father’s trailer, to find him dead. Murdered.
Nova and Cam find a note from Dagon saying that he killed their father and plans to kill them next. Nova plots an infiltration of Dagon’s headquarters, and Cam reluctantly agrees to help taking Nova to his storage locker chock full of weapons where they suit up.
Fully armed, Nova infiltrates the school, and Cam shows up at just the right time to join the fight even though he didn’t have to. Nova takes the fight straight to Dagon—but not before a rematch with Sheriff Tannin. Nova stabs him to death in a bloody scene. Nova confronts Dagon, taking the upper hand and getting her mother’s rose pendant back in the process. Nova and Cam kill Dagon but make it look like he offed himself—planting a fake suicide note on him.
Nova fulfills her father’s wish, placing the rose pendant back in his hand while he’s lying in his casket before speeding out of Vulture Valley on her motorcycle.
