SYNOPSIS:
Jimmy’s current feature script, “Dead Eye Dong,” inspired by his Korean grandfather, score an 8, and is among The Black List’s top trending dramas in 2025. DEAD EYE DONG: (Sports/Western/Revenge) follows DONG SUN LEE, a teenage pear farmer in post-war South Korea. While delivering pears to a nearby American military base, Dong Sun becomes fascinated with guns, captivated by the soldiers' marksmanship and shooting competitions. This infatuation leads him to befriend and rival JEFF BURNSIDE, the base's top shooter. When Burnside loses his gun, Dong Sun's life takes an unexpected turn when he meets BYUNG HO PARK, a girl his age who has stolen Burnside's weapon. As Byung Ho hides in his pear cart to evade capture, they eventually fall in love and share dreams of American freedom and shooting. With guns illegal for civilians in Korea, Burnside eventually introduces them to air pistol shooting—a safer sport that ignites Dong Sun's ambition to compete in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The story unfolds through Dong Sun's eyes in four chapters, each ten years apart: the day his life changes from farmer to shooter, his honeymoon with Byung Ho in America, the Olympic final against Burnside during the 1988 Seoul Olympics, and the aftermath of his embarrassing loss, which turns him into a laughing stock in Korea. This culminates in his quest for revenge against Burnside, the gold medalist shooter.
