Synopsis

Ring-A-Rosie

A man and a woman whose paths crossed two decades ago, meet again – under deadly circumstances.

After a tragic road accident killed his family Rick Fenton is a bomb specialist who has found love second time around with Georgia, a librarian at the U.S. Congressional Library. He lectures occasionally at the Army Ordnance School in Virginia, fishes as a hobby and is completing his Masters in folklore, especially nursery rhymes.

Zahra al-Quershi is a senior banker who secretly funds a militant Islamic organization as a cover for her real scheme – the billion-dollar robbery of Government Bonds from an overseas Government. A plan that requires murder, kidnap and blackmail.

Having recognised Rick on television newscasts she turns into a vengeful psychopath – and sets about systematically killing his three closest unit members with booby traps. One by one.

Then she zeroes in on Rick.

Who is now being assisted by Napier, a technology-obsessed private military contractor who works out of a secret headquarters in Washington’s Georgetown.

Napier wants Zahra identified and captured, so he can ‘turn her’ into an overseas political tool/spy for the US Government.

Zahra successfully raises an illegal fortune by blackmailing an Afghan Government Minister with a hoax sex video. Now she has only one thing left to accomplish before disappearing to enjoy her new fortune.

She wants Rick dead because she contributed to her becoming an orphan. Because he was in an armored car that accidently killed her wealthy parents in Afghanistan twenty years before.

That led to her being shuttled around distant relatives as little more than a charity case for years.

She stalks Rick to the family home in rural Maryland. But her attempt fails as Rick works out that someone has booby trapped his favorite fishing rod.

Now the hunted becomes the hunter.

They eventually meet at a July 4 dinner on Capitol Hill hosted by Georgia.

Zahra attempts to kill Georgia by throwing her over the Dome balcony. And when she flees is tracked through the tens of thousands of engrossed fireworks spectators on the Mall.

Rick kills her on the Washington Monument with an ingenious and deadly tiny bomb he’d planted in her collar.

And which he triggers with an SMS of a nursery rhyme, Ring-A-Rosie, which has personal significance.

Leaving him free emotionally and physically to begin a new life.
