LOGLINE:

Gifford Pinchot, first chief of the U.S. Forest Service, for twenty years sees visions of the recently deceased love of his life, all while trying to promote the environmental cause in early 20th Century America.

SYNOPSIS:

BEHIND THE TREES, OVER THE MIST is the story of Gifford Pinchot, first chief of the U.S. Forest Service. Pinchot loses the love of his life, Laura Houghteling, to tuberculosis but soon finds himself seeing Laura in his visions. He has to balance his delusions with his environmental mission to preserve the forests of the United States. He manages to do that at first, but soon the visions start taking over his life, prompting him to neglect his cause. Pinchot then realizes he has to let Laura go and to seek help in a mental institution, if he wants to preserve Nature. In his journey, Pinchot encounters other important historical figures like Theodore Roosevelt and John Muir.
