CAUGHT OUT THERE
By Christopher A. Brown

GENRE: Science Fiction, Comedy
LOGLINE:

Two star-crossed singles join a zodiac-based matchmaking service and discover extraterrestrials in the dating pool.

SYNOPSIS:

With the world on fire and human-form aliens appearing and disappearing all the time, the Earthlings' quests for sex and companionship show no signs of slowing. Heartly and Malik meet by chance at a bar on the night each is looking to drown their sorrows after embarrassing breakups. Their friendship becomes the rebound they both so desperately desire - so much so that they join a too-weird-to-be-true Zodiac-based matchmaking service on a mutual dare.

Maybe it's underlying depression keeping these two bonded, given Malik is facing his father's illness and Heartly has decided she has had enough of life on this planet. As news of these Black-presenting extraterrestrials who call themselves "Notofearths" dominate news cycles, wannabe-bougie Heartly becomes more and more enamored with the idea that she belongs with them on their homeworld, out there.

With the help of Miss Niecey, the fabulous gender nonconforming matchmaker, Heartly and Malik go on a few bad dates and realize that the Notofearths are also on the market. In the meantime, Heartly meets a man without the dating service - Michael- and their unmistakeable chemistry just may keep her grounded. He is an Earthling whom she does not know is Malik's brother, the roommate who is never home when she visits. A quarrel with Malik and the revelation of Michael as his brother is timed just right with an invitation from Miss Niecey. Her mind is made up: she's going out there.

Soulful and fun, with aspirations beyond the limits of this world, the journey of two everyday people is peppered with easter eggs and finishes with an ending that opens the door to even more superhuman possibilities.
