In 2025, a filmmaker takes his partner to a private movie theater screening in Wilmette, Illinois, to watch his first short film. However, little does she know the surprise awaiting her. The film he is about to show is, in fact, a proposal film about finding the right words to ask the ultimate question: "Will you marry me?" This film-within-a-film casts the age-old question in a setting where the life-changing answer depends on reality itself, as her real-life response will shape the course of their lives together.
