Set in 1990s Detroit, a washed-up musician turned car factory worker struggling with memory loss, goes up against power-hungry forces that threaten to kill him and his estranged son.

SYNOPSIS:

Set in Detroit 1990s this is the story of an ex-band member recovering alcoholic, Rusty Johnson, now a middle-aged Detroit factory worker on the verge of having a mid-life crisis when he gets an unexpected visit from his long-lost son. A complete change from the carefree, paycheck-to-paycheck, gambling lifestyle that Rusty is used to. When the mother of his teenage son suddenly dies in a car crash the court gives Rusty one more chance to prove he’s fit to be a parent and the Judge sends his son Khalil to live with him. He accepts his responsibility and his new life. Rusty tries to change to show Khalil how to be a responsible person while trying to make up for the lost time. However, he still grapples with his gambling addiction. After the car plant issues layoffs and gives the notice to relocate overseas, Rusty has to find a way to pay back his gambling debt to the city crime boss. In addition to, Khalil, holding a grudge against Rusty for not being there, he decides to form a bond with the neighborhood dope dealer to rebel against his father and to prove he’s better off without him. Things go from bad to worse when Khalil’s new high-school “dope-boy” colleague happens to work for the same crime boss Rusty has a load of debt with.
