A painfully shy small-town sheriff falls for a handsome astronaut when he arrives in town to observe
a once in a lifetime meteor shower, but when her beautiful and shallow friend wants to flirt with him,
the shy sheriff agrees to coach her through the courtship regardless that her own feelings for the
astronaut are blasting off.
SYNOPSIS:
Bailey Crossland, the Sheriff of a small mountain town, is intelligent, attractive and seemingly has
everything, if it wasn’t for her inability to talk to men anywhere beyond her job. In her personal life,
her shyness around men is a town joke she painfully and good naturedly endures. Her sister owns a
quaint Bed and Breakfast and when a handsome Nasa astronaut, Commander Hudson MacGregor,
arrives to observe a meteor shower before Christmas, the town is enthralled by the charming visitor.
Bailey too. But from afar. The sight of Hudson sends her nerves to outer space. Bailey’s beautiful
friend, Natasha, whose life orbits around her social media accounts, attracts the interest of Hudson
when she buys his newest astronomy book at his book signing. Hudson poses for a photo with
Natasha thinking she’s an astronomy buff. But the book is for Bailey, the true buff. Later, when the
photo blows up online, Natasha is thrilled by the attention as her follower count skyrockets. Hudson
takes an interest in Natasha and asks her to lunch to discuss Pluto. In a panic, Natasha asks Bailey
to help her fake galactic acumen during the date to keep him interested. Bailey agrees and
masterminds a plan to use the TV screen mounted behind Hudson to feed Natasha the snappy
dialogue at the B&B restaurant. Bailey expertly talks her way through a chicken pot pie lunch. And
apple pie. The conversation flows until a bored Natasha ends the date. After posting date photos
that boost her popularity, Natasha agrees to a coffee date. But Bailey will have to feed her the
conversation again if this is going to work. Bailey suggests the internet café where Natasha can
have a computer screen facing her. Hudson finds this a peculiar date choice but shows up. With
Bailey secretly supplying one side of the conversation via Zoom Chat, the plan works. But, by the
end of the date, Hudson is offput by his date’s strange behavior and wacky ways even if he’s
intrigued by her knowledge of astronomy.
When cloud cover has Hudson moving across the mountain pass for better sky viewing, he and
“Natasha” exchange texts with Bailey at the controls and conversation flows. But Natasha loses
interest realizing she and Hudson have nothing in common and when Hudson returns to town,
Natasha cuts him free, further perplexing him to wonder if Natasha has two personalities. Natasha
can’t tell Hudson it’s Bailey he’s been talking to because she promised her friend secrecy. But
Bailey’s sister didn’t promise and reveals to Hudson the big switcheroo. He’s shocked! Bailey? The
shyest person in town? Realizing he’s falling for Bailey he forms a plan to lure her out of her shell to
test their relationship. He arrives at the Sheriff office to report that something was taken from him,
now confident in his interest in Bailey. On official business, a relaxed Bailey proceeds to write up a
report. Until Hudson’s declares that his heart was stolen. By the intriguing sheriff. He playfully says
he won’t press charges. This at-work flirting works for Bailey, and she declares that her heart’s been
stolen too.
It’s Christmas Eve, Bailey and Hudson are on the roof of the B&B with a telescope and a bottle of
champagne watching the final meteor shower. Bailey is at ease with Hudson and after hearing him
name the meteor shower Bailey’s Comet, they share a sweet kiss as a sleigh and reindeer cross in
front of the meteor shower in the sky above.
