SYNOPSIS:
Kylie Bristowe (30’s), an artist known for her beautiful romance-themed blown glass, runs a local art gallery with her friend Robin in Valentine Hills, a town famous for their Valentine’s Day Festival. Surrounded by romantic festivities the week before the festival Kylie is reminded of her stagnant relationship with her boyfriend of five years (without a proposal), Dan. Thrilled with Robin’s recent engagement to the love of her life, Kylie’s also a wee bit envious.
Mark Filmore (30’s), the town’s new cardiologist is hoping for a fresh start in Valentine Hills and when he discovers a mysterious older woman needing accommodation for the week of festivities, he joins Kylie in trying to help. Turns out Kylie has a guest room and the woman, Ruby, settles into Kylie’s home like she’s everyone’s grandmother. Kylie’s boyfriend Dan returns from a job interview in the city to announce that they’re moving, something that shocks Kylie who loves her life in Valentine Hills. Over the next days, the playful Ruby and Mark develop a close friendship and when Ruby pulls Kylie into the mix for dinners, activities like impromptu tango lessons and foot massages, there are lots of laughs. The vibrant, quirky and slightly interfering Ruby finagles schedules and fakes an ankle injury to keep Mark and Kylie together and soon Dan isn’t pleased with his girlfriend’s new friend group. He half-heartedly suggests he and Kylie could get engaged before moving and his weak attempt at a proposal has Kylie realizing she’s spinning her wheels with Dan. She must break up with Dan but worries about throwing away a five-year relationship just because she’s developed feelings for Mark.
Ruby’s heart-shaped plans pop up everywhere and soon Mark fights off his own feelings for the lovely glass artist. Long talks about relationships and art, and small-town life have the two falling deeper for each other. When Valentine’s Day arrives with Dan more interested in his new job than his girlfriend or a proper proposal, Kylie is determined to leave their tired relationship and set Dan free to pursue his dream job. An encounter at the town street party has the two deciding to end things amicably. But Mark mistakes their goodbye hug for a proposal hug and leaves, thinking he was a fool to fall for Kylie.
She runs after him to explain, and they confess their newfound feelings. They agree to take things slowly. Around the corner, Ruby was watching and satisfied, gets into an old red car with the license plate, Love, Cupid and they take off out of town as a sparkly arrow is shot into the sky over Kylie and Mark’s kiss.
