Logline - Two drug users set up a flash mob wedding so they can sell their gifts
to pay off their dealer but their friends, neighbors and family are so ecstatic about their
wedding that the couple is taken in by their own scam.
SYNOPSIS:
In This Is Bliss, I've tried to show how two people new to a 12-step program
make astonishingly bad decisions to reach a universal goal, ready cash. Their
neighbors and friends pitch in with an overwhelming happiness to set up a rush wedding
complete with tables full of re-gifted merch that serve as the couple’s true focus.
The neighbors and friends tame the wild backyard for dancing and break out their
bridesmaids dresses and suitable male plumage, while the local minister steps up to
make sure the whole thing is 'legal in the eyes of god and man.’ It’s going so well that
the bride and groom think no one will mind when they rush the on-line auction to pop off
during their reception.
Meanwhile, their neighbors are loving the party but can't figure out why strangers
are dropping in and walking off with wedding gifts for cash. They have already accepted
the sight of a trio of street dealers at their shindig since the groom is a former cop and
besides, there are three other cops in dress blues sticking close to such an unlikely trio.
The story is propelled by the demanding former cop who sees himself as a kind
of savior to his lady, and she takes it all in stride while her younger sister and her
neighbors want to pull her away from powders, pills and potions. Eventually, the couple
is peppered with questions but the party atmosphere prevails. They get their money and
surprise, they're married, something they hadn't counted on.
