In July 2003, 42-year-old Larissa Schooler – a successful businesswoman, biochemist, and mother of two children living in an upscale neighbourhood – is going through a bitter divorce with her husband of 21 years, Timothy. Unwilling to forgo fifty percent of her assets and business, in the early hours of the morning, she and her young accomplice, James Farrell, entice Tim outside his home, knock him out with a stun gun, render him unconscious with chloroform and drive to Larissa’s house where they stuff him in a 55-gallon drum. Larissa fills with hydrochloric acid… “Sociopath” - They possess no conscience, have no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in twenty-five everyday Americans, is secretly… a sociopath. They could be your colleague, your neighbour, even family. And they can do literally anything at all and feel absolutely no guilt.

Having constructed a web of deceit and lies over the previous two years, Larissa is a perfect example of a Sociopath. Farrell is set up, found guilty, given life with no parole. Larissa’s verdict was overturned on appeal and later she was convicted again to life in prison.
