Sounds a lot like Harlan Ellison's "Santa Claus vs. S.P.I.D,E.R." from the late 60's. A Whole Lot!

Harlan's Short Story came out in 1969. It was a HUGE Underground Hit. It's been reprinted about 1,000 times over the years.
