SYNOPSIS:

MR. SILVER (40) may live in a rural area, but he teaches English in an urban high school. He is a white man trying to get through to his black students while also trying to raise a little family on a few acres. SEAN (17) is an abused and confused orphan who lacks direction and stability. Despite Mr. Silver’s efforts, he cannot seem to reach Sean. Mr. Silver ends up writing Sean a letter and sending it to his house, and he makes the mistake of putting his home address on the return address spot. He also underestimates just how troubled Sean’s home life is. Sean is physically and emotionally abused by TIM (50), his current foster father.

In a tense showdown, Sean is able to overcome Tim’s latest onslaught, which started because of Mr. Silver’s letter. This clash leaves Sean in a state of anger. He blames the bout on his assertive, white teacher, and he finds the envelope with the home address.
