An eleven-year-old gamer and his battered robot must save his younger sister from an indestructible war robot when it goes rogue during a competition.

SYNOPSIS:

MIKE ANDERSON desperately wants to compete in INTO THE ZONE (ITZ), a huge competition where gamers from around the world control robots that battle each other in different arenas. Mike’s last robot was destroyed in action, so he’s ecstatic when his dad brings home a battered, old robot he calls Mattimo. Mike fixes and reprograms Mattimo.

KATY ANDERSON, Mike’s younger sister wants to be just like him, she creates her own little robot called WINI. Although its only tiny, Wini can fly in and out of the smallest spaces unnoticed, and she can unpick any lock.

Mike and Mattimo enter ITZ and reach the quarterfinals. He and his family are flown to Shanghai to compete amongst top gamers including Mike’s idol, reigning ITZ champion, Master Gamer LEI CHAN and his indestructible robot ZERO. Mike befriends NAYAN ZANG, a girl gamer from Shanghai who’s also competing with her robot AKUSI. Nayan tells Mike to be careful of Zero who’s “dangerous”.

Zero wins the quarterfinals and Mattimo comes in second place, both are injured in a series of explosions. Medibots (miniature robot-surgeons) repair them, accidentally input a piece of rogue code from the disused hard drives of two military war robots, one from Russia and one from the UK, the rogue code turns the robots autonomous.

During the semi-finals of ITZ Mattimo surprises Mike by communicating directly with him, they beat Zero and win the semi-finals. Whilst celebrating, Zero goes out of control and ignores Lei Chan’s commands to shut down. Zero goes rogue, it takes a busload of children hostage, including Katy, and escapes the arena. Wini hides on the bus with Katy.

Zero wreaks a path of destruction across Shanghai and the surrounding areas. The military and other agencies attempt to capture Zero and fail.

Zero discovers Wini is on the bus and tries to destroy it. Wini escapes and flies back to Mike and Mattimo. Nayan’s father works at supercomputer company, he sneaks Mattimo inside and reprograms it. They all work together to save the children and defeat Zero.

Wini tracks Katy and leads them to Zero’s hiding place. Mattimo sneaks inside and rescues the children. Wini is destroyed in the chaos and returns as the world’s first Ghostbot.
