SPIDER'S STRANGE FRIEND

SPIDER'S STRANGE FRIEND
By Val Chernyavskiy

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

When a stoner and clueless wannabe astronaut, Ash, is accidentally chosen for a high-stakes space mission, his survival hinges on the unlikely partnership with a giant, streetwise spider named Bill. D., who dreams of becoming a hip-hop star. Together, they must navigate cosmic chaos, repair a failing spaceship, and find their way back to Earth — with a side of beats, bongs, and bizarre revelations.

SYNOPSIS:

Due to a technical error in the selection process, Ash, a complete degenerate and marijuana enthusiast, is chosen for a space mission. Ash firmly believes that if it's nighttime in his town, it's nighttime everywhere on Earth. Luckily, the mission seems simple: the spaceship will approach a mysterious dust cloud, collect data, and study the orbit of a newly discovered planet — all handled by the ship’s automated systems.

However, after successfully gathering initial data, the ship collides with an unknown object, causing a catastrophic failure of the onboard automation. Ash’s safe return to Earth becomes increasingly uncertain. Suddenly, from the ship's ventilation system, emerges a massive spider wearing a gold chain around its neck.

"Yo, what’s up with this clown? Got any snacks? Or do I have to search and destroy, snowflake?" the spider booms in a deep gangster voice, punctuating his words with exaggerated hand gestures. Ash, showing no signs of hostility, manages to pique the spider’s curiosity instead of its aggression. "The name’s Bill. D. Play it cool, and I might drop some knowledge about the universe," says the spider, sounding unimpressed.

Ash tries to repair the spaceship, but his efforts resemble a clueless teenager trying to turn an MP-40 submachine gun into an STG-44 assault rifle. "Yo, what are you even doing? You’re a straight-up moron! How did you even become an astronaut?" Bill. D. yells, exasperated.

Ash’s incompetence leads to a catastrophic oxygen leak. Bill. D. intervenes, skillfully repairing the ship’s life-support systems and saving Ash from suffocation. "I’ll help you get home," Bill declares, "but not out of charity, snowflake! You’re gonna make me a star in the hip-hop industry. My mama never believed in me, but music’s my life!"

Ash nods in agreement, desperate for survival. Bill swiftly repairs the ship and restores its systems. Meanwhile, Ash, attempting to relieve stress, tries to light up a bong. "Listen, you hairless freak. You’re just a walking, sweating mistake of evolution. Every time you get warm, you leak water! What’s wrong with your species?" Bill snaps.

As the spaceship prepares for landing, Bill connects to the ship’s audio system and cranks up karaoke. Ash begins to sing horrendously, but Bill joins in with smooth beats, creating a surprisingly heartwarming duet. This marks the beginning of an unlikely friendship.

Upon landing, the ship is greeted by military forces and a swarm of media outlets. That evening, Bill is seen performing on stage, rapping and dancing to an ecstatic crowd. Behind the scenes, Ash watches quietly from backstage, murmuring, "Just like you wanted, Bill."

The camera cuts to military personnel observing the spectacle from behind a glass wall. "Honestly, I think Ash is an alien too. There’s no way anyone this dumb exists on Earth. He couldn’t even tell a military base from a daytime talk show set," one soldier mutters.

The camera pans out, revealing rows of armed soldiers. As it continues to zoom out, it becomes clear they are inside a high-security facility. The final shot focuses on a sign that reads: “AREA 51.”
