SYNOPSIS:
In 2025, with Trump’s authoritarian immigration policies in place, Alejandra is sent to El Salvador by her devout, conservative mother, Reina, as punishment for being gay. Still grieving her own failed American dream, Reina believes she’s saving her daughter from sin — and from herself.
In El Salvador, Alejandra meets Estela, a sharp, free-spirited local who offers her a glimpse of another life. As trust grows between them, and Estela uncovers the truth behind Alejandra’s exile, they begin to fall in love.
When Alejandra’s trip ends and she tries to return home, she’s denied entry due to a past protest arrest. Estela’s tourist visa is also rejected.
Determined to stay together, the girls embark on a brutal journey north — mirroring a buried secret from Reina’s past. As the border tightens and truths come to light, their fight for love becomes a reckoning with the myths of freedom, family, and home.
