A Las Vegas police detective struggles to solve magical cases with her new government partner when their own existence as paranormal beings becomes a crime.

SYNOPSIS:

PARA is a one-hour, serialized procedural based in a contemporary world where a quarter of the population is known to be para—magical individuals ranging from psychic humans to ogres to immortal fairies. The show focuses on the struggles of two law enforcement officers whose very existence has become a crime.

In the pilot, Detective JORI is brought in to find six men who have gone missing in her Las Vegas jurisdiction. The case escalates quickly: clairvoyants in the department are scared to touch it, and the Paranormal Intelligence Agency annoyingly sends in their own para agent, DEL, to help find their recently missing biomedical weapons engineer. Jori’s brother becomes the seventh missing man after begging her to join the illicit organization, Para Resistance, that is fighting the PIA and government on behalf of the oppressed paras.

Mounting clues lead Jori and Del to go deep undercover into a Nevada brothel, where an ancient succubus preys on every living soul within. By the end of the pilot, Del is transferred to Las Vegas to be Jori’s permanent partner. Las Vegas has become a hotbed of extreme para activity, and they are the best hope at keeping everyone safe.

As the season continues, Jori and Del must learn to trust each other as they fight both out-of-control paras and their government’s evil whims. They’ll need to have each other’s backs so they can figure out just who is on their side and who is manipulating the entire system.
