An ambitious office worker discovers an elevator that takes him 5 years into the future; but finds that his future self is still stuck in the same dead-end job, so he attempts to fix the past and change the future.

SYNOPSIS:

Felix Carter has a mind that works like a computer; he is intelligent, efficient and analytical, making him a prodigy in the professional world, but his obsessions, candour and social awkwardness cause struggles in his personal life. After his influential boss takes a shine to him, he knows he is a shoo-in for promotion, until he discovers an elevator that takes him 5 years into the future where he finds his future self, tearfully masturbating in a storage cupboard. Things have to change.

5 Years is a 6 X 30, high concept sitcom that explores ambition, failure, work-life balance and the unstoppable force of time against the comedic backdrop of a modern workplace with all its jargon, office politics, efficiency innovations and blue-sky thinking.

Felix discovers that a lot can change in 5 years: his best friend Dom, a hard-partying, charismatic slacker, has become an executive and no longer wants to speak to him. P-T, his jargon-spewing, omniscient boss, is suddenly the head of the entire company and is conducting secret meetings with Dom. Claire, his karma-giving, aura-reading supervisor has died in suspicious circumstances and Paige, his foul-mouthed, headstrong, crush is prim, proper and pregnant.

Felix decides to team up with his future self to achieve what neither of them could on their own. However, every change they make in the past has a price in the future. Throughout the series, Felix and his future self push each other to the brink, forcing themselves to be smarter, more emotional and more Machiavellian than ever, in order to uncover the secrets of the elevator, win the affections of Paige, save the life of Claire, undermine the tyrannical rule of P-T and rekindle their friendship with Dom. However, the butterfly effect, the laws of time travel and the creator of the elevator have different ideas in mind.
