An award-winning screenplay based on a true story about how over a dozen young boys were molested by a clubhouse manager over a twenty-year period while working as clubbies for the Boston Red Sox.
SYNOPSIS:
"Predator in the Clubhouse: The Boston Red Sox Child Molestation Story" is a 129-page screenplay. It is based on a true, untold story in the vein of “The Boys of St. Vincent” (1992). The events took place in Winter Haven, Florida, where the Boston Red Sox held spring training at the Chain of Lakes Ballpark. A man named Donald Fitzpatrick, who worked as the organization's clubhouse manager, was known as Fitzy. Over at least twenty years, Fitzy is believed to have molested more than a dozen boys who worked as clubbies under him at the facility. He pled guilty in 2002 but never served time. He received a ten-year suspended sentence and fifteen years of probation. Fitzy died in 2005, but the victims' stories have never been told… Until now.
Predator in the Clubhouse: The Boston Red Sox Child Molestation Story is one of the most eye-opening and compelling untold stories of child sexual abuse within a sports organization in history. It reveals how the circumstances of the young boys, mostly poor and without fathers, were exploited. Explore the predator's mindset and see how he used his authority to control and manipulate these young victims. Enter the minds of the actual victims (including the main character, Will, who shares his story) and learn to recognize signs of abuse that parents might overlook. We send children to professional sports organizations, expecting them to be safe and trusting that top athletes and staff will protect them. But how many scandals like those at Penn State or the Boston Red Sox remain hidden? How can we better safeguard our youth? While these questions are complex, this story aims to raise awareness and save lives.
This screenplay is now award-winning, with three film festival selections and two awards: Selection 2025-LA Film & Documentary Award, Award Winner 2025-New York Film & Cinematography Awards, and Genre Winner 2025-Your Script Produced! 4th Edition (Your Script Produced! 4th Edition is repped by United Talent Agency).
