Revolutionaries have taken over Maman Iravanian's beloved homeland. Her family is safe, but she is now an enemy of the state simply for existing. She has just a few months to escape before she is arrested and jailed for life, or worse.

SYNOPSIS:

The Iravanian family lived a great life in their country which changed its name from Persia to Iran just a year before the heroine of this story was born. As the country modernized, the family and their businesses thrived. Through the 1970s, there was amazing freedom, but there were also rumblings of discontent bubbling throughout the country.

The Iravanian's daughters were safely relocated in America when the rumblings exploded into revolution in 1979. At first, the government changes were mostly an inconvenience with annoying restrictions placed on the citizens. As robust people, they adapted. Every new annoyance became the new normal. Life went on.

As they entered the 1980's it led to more devastating restrictions for Homa and Aziz Iravanian like missing two of their daughters' college graduations, weddings, and the births of their grandchildren. By the mid 1980's, these restrictions moved from frustrating to life threatening. When a young man directly threatened to kill Aziz in broad daylight, they knew they had to escape. It took nearly a year for them to be granted a Passport and permission to travel outside the country. But that permission was only for one of the Iravanian's.

In late 1987, Maman Homa Iravanian was trapped alone in what was once her beloved homeland. The revolutionaries who had taken over the country saw her as their enemy simply for existing. She had just a few months to try to escape and reunite with her family before the revolutionary guards would arrest, jail, and torture her for the rest of her life.

Freedom doesn't always come easily or for free.
