By Talie Melnyk

GENRE: Thriller, Historical
LOGLINE:

In 1884 New York City, a wealthy young woman leads a double life as a serial killer avenging sexual and domestic violence, and a socialite in love with the politician whose mission is to clean up the crime and vice of the city.

SYNOPSIS:

ALEXE PHILLIPS, a wealthy young socialite with a past, wants to make a difference for women in 1884 New York City. She meets with the Female Assistance Society, but they only aid women who meet their moral standards. With reluctance, Alexe donates to their Brooklyn chapter. That evening, Alexe attends the Vanderbilt ball and hears of a friend’s abuse by her husband, PETERSON, and his rape of their daughter. To help, Alexe goes in person and calls the police, but they do nothing. She, therefore, takes matters into her own hands and comes up with a plan to poison the man, but her attempt fails. Not giving up, she enlists an estranged friend-turned-courtesan, NASTYA, and the two create a five star brothel, Miss Nell’s, with a plan to lure Peterson to his death. Meanwhile, Alexe’s beau, CHARLES, a dedicated politician, buys an engagement ring. He takes Alexe to Prospect Park and shares his plan to rid the city of vice and crime, but she cuts the date short. That night, drawing from the rage of poisoning her violent stepfather, Alexe transforms into the prostitute-killer, Cecile, makes her way to Miss Nell’s and successfully poisons Peterson. The next day, Alexe breaks down from the memory of poisoning her abused mother by accident. In that moment, as Cecile, she vows to continue as a killer and save all women and children from sexual and domestic violence. At the same time, Charles, the man with the mission to clean up New York, surprises Alexe at her Brooklyn Heights mansion and proposes marriage.
