A PREDESTINED AFFAIR
By Tony Pindrock

GENRE: Experimental, Thriller / Suspense
LOGLINE:

"A pregnant woman must enter a coma of her own to pull her husband back from an affair fate itself is engineering — with the woman he was always meant to die beside."

SYNOPSIS:

If another life felt completely real... would you know which one was true?

Years before meeting the woman he would marry, Steven Sloan receives an unsettling fortune from the mysterious Madame Rosa. She warns that two paths lie before him—one leading to the life he's meant to live, the other to a destiny he cannot escape. Steven dismisses the prophecy as carnival theatrics and eventually builds a happy life with his wife, Jenny.

Years into their marriage, Steven begins experiencing vivid dreams unlike anything he's ever known. Night after night, he's drawn into an alternate reality where Monica is his fiancée, their lives together feel completely real, and Jenny never existed. Each dream becomes longer, more convincing, and harder to leave. As Steven's grip on reality deteriorates, he slips into an unexplained coma, his mind imprisoned within a shared subconscious where Monica believes fate has finally reunited them.

Desperate for answers, Jenny turns to neurologist Dr. Estelle Grant, who uncovers an impossible truth. Steven's mind is imprisoned in a psychological limbo created by Monica, a young woman who died years earlier believing Steven was destined to be hers. Estelle theorizes that the only way to save him is for Jenny to enter the same subconscious realm through a medically induced coma. Newly pregnant, Jenny willingly risks both her life and her unborn child for one chance to bring her husband home.

Inside the surreal dream realm, Jenny discovers that Monica is not the monster she imagined, but a lonely, broken soul trapped between life and death. With the help of Father Walter Mahoney, another coma patient lost within the same realm, Jenny navigates shifting realities, false memories, and haunting illusions in a race against time. As Monica slowly convinces Steven that Jenny never existed, Jenny fights to awaken the memories of the life they built together.

Their final confrontation unfolds at the SuperSonic Speedway, where the tragic accident that first bound Monica and Steven threatens to repeat itself. Jenny finally reaches Steven by placing his championship darts into his hands—a simple reminder from the life only they shared. The memories return, forcing Steven to choose between the comforting illusion of destiny and the imperfect but genuine love he shares with Jenny. He chooses Jenny. Accepting the truth at last, Monica releases Steven, embraces her own fate, and steps into the light, finally finding the peace that eluded her in life. Walter also awakens from his coma, freed from the same limbo.

Steven and Jenny awaken safely in the real world, forever changed by their experience. Months later, they celebrate the birth of their son, believing the nightmare has finally ended. But as the attending nurse removes her surgical mask, Steven is stunned to see Monica's face staring back at him. Moments later, outside her weathered carnival tent, Madame Rosa watches another customer approach. A knowing smile touches her lips.
