A sweet story of how two socioeconomic different young women whose husbands are off to World War II become roommates and loyal life-long lovers at a time when such relationships were never openly discussed or admitted.

SYNOPSIS:

What do two young WWII Navy wives do with their lives after their husbands go off to war in 1942?

They are from different socioeconomic backgrounds in New York City. Angie, 23, lives in a quiet Queens neighborhood; Maria, 19, in the tough South Bronx. They meet when their husbands report for Navy duty.

Angie dreads now having to live alone day after day. She persuades Maria to share her apartment during the indeterminable length of the war. In time, their physical and emotional intimacy grows. They go to work, shop, swing dance at USOs … do everything together.

Is their intimacy more than a temporary wartime friendship? How do the two married women deal with first-time bisexuality?

Their grocer, Mr. Berski, an elderly and wise Ukrainian immigrant helps the girls explore their feelings for each other. Mr. Berski feels unending love for his dying wife of 42 years. That love is kept alive whenever he sees Angie’s beautiful dark eyes, constant reminders of his wife when she was young.

From Mr. Berski’s great love for his wife, the women learn to appreciate the value of a lasting and loving relationship. An eventful day ultimately unites the women into just such a relationship as a life-long family unit.
