After a biracial, transgender girl lifts herself out of the slums, falls in love, and begins to build a better life, she risks everything when she encounters the man from her childhood she swore to kill.
SYNOPSIS:
Born as Stephen, everyone tries to convince Stephanie that she is a boy. Her heroin-addicted mother screams, "You are not a fucking girl!" Yet, her mother pimps her out to a man who brutally abuses her. After her mother's murder, she is placed in Christian foster care, where they are more focused on convincing her that she is a boy than recognizing the effects of her trauma. A Trust set up by a benevolent minister allows her to be adopted by an elderly friend who accepts her as she is. At eighteen, she has transition surgery, meets and falls in love with Jordan, but she ends up running into the man who tormented her as a child and remembers her pledge that she would kill him if she ever saw him again.
