Gen, a 15-year-old nerd Japanese boy is sent to Australia while his single mother unbeknownst to him, undergoes treatment for cancer. In Australia, while involved in a juvenile community sporting team’s bid to finally win the season competition Gen meets the ghost of his ancestor and must deal with the ancestor’s legacy.
SYNOPSIS:
Set in contemporary Australia and Japan, the story follows the excitement and trials and tribulations of the rite of passage of two 15-year-old boys: Max, an Australian young sporting adept and team captain; the other, Gen, a Japanese nerd, and their bias', personal identification and differences as their lives are thrust together and they are compelled through a season of community club rugby as the team struggles to win the season grand-final. All the while Gen must unravel the riddle of his ancestor’s ghost and of a possible treasure. While at home Mai, Gen’s mother, undergoes cancer treatment but also the opening of her heart and mind to an unexpected carer.
