SYNOPSIS:
England's Protestant King rules Ireland with a heavy hand, seizing their property, outlawing their religion and education then leaving them impoverished and on the run from his cruel Penal Laws. Catholics who refuse to convert or pledge affection and loyalty to his throne, suffer soul-crushing consequences. Seeds of a burgeoning uprising are being planted and the wearing or displaying of the color green, a sign of resistance, is treason punishable by death. When Catholic teen Reanna O'Neal is attacked and brutalized by a drunken British noble, she fights back in self-defense and unintentionally kills him. With a price on her head, she flees for her life, doggedly pursued by a sadistic British Officer who's hot on her tail and out for blood. This is her story of survival a Catholic in the days leading up to the Irish Uprising of 1798 and her emergence as a warrior fighting to rid her country of foreign rule, changing Ireland's destiny forever.

I'd like to read the screenplay. My ancestors were kicked out of Scotland by the Clearances! I certainly understand the motivation of the story. When do we get our Compensation??

Lol Exactly, William! I’ll post the script if you would like. It was a winner at the Oaxaca Film Festival. I am currently having it produced as a dramatized audio screenplay. Excited to see it completed!

Interesting logline and synopsis. My only comment is that name of your teen protagonist doesn't sound correct
? Whatja mean Eoin? It’s her name....although in the script it’s O’Neil...
By the way, Eoin, I’m liking your loglines!

O'Neil is correct, Reanna, sounds too contemporary. I think the traditional Catholic names for girls in 1700 Ireland were Mary, Margaret, Catherine, Bridget etc. As there are Gaelic names that have specific meanings, maybe you should pick one of those, to reflect your protags trait(s)? Just a thought. RE Loglines, thanks!

This is based on one of my mother Colleen Rice’s writings of a multi-generation Irish Catholic family, and Reanna was her protagonist in the beginning of the journey. Since my mother is no longer with us, I can’t ask her if the name had a special meaning to her, so it must live on :) I wish I knew if she was very attached to the same and why,..
I loved the name of her other protagonist, Erris, but her story is after the massacre in Castlebar.
