When their livelihood, a ski hill, is threatened with closure, a group of desperate employees band together for “skistock”, a mega rock/arts and crafts spectacle they hope will give them the money to save it

SYNOPSIS:

The owner of Tammy’s Ski Shack, a small, rundown ski hill on the outskirts of Craig, Colorado, goes bankrupt. For employee Rob, a twenty-something go-getter, life has come to an end. The Shack means everything to him. If he can’t work it he might as well crawl into a hole and die. His cousin Fred wishes he would do just that. He wants the land for himself so he can re-sell it and save his own vintage clothing store.

With only two months until the Shack is shut down, Rob comes up with an insane idea to keep it open: put on a massive rock concert and use the proceeds to pay off all of its bills. He enlists the aide of fellow employees Carol, Sandy, Clair and Mike. Mike convinces him to add an arts and crafts sale and MTV also wants to bring one of its shows to the event.

Through crazy fundraisers, absurd promises and constant interference from Fred, Skistock, a celebration of music and the arts, is born. As all this is happening, Rob draws closer to Carol and eventually discovers he loves her. Sandy and Clair also discover that they have more in common than they thought and get closer. Mike achieves nirvana with his arts and crafts show.

With two weeks left or the city will close down the hill for good, a fire guts the building the concert was going to take place in. Fred may get the property after all.

All seems lost but at the last minute a new venue is found, the festival takes place and... the ski hill is destroyed by a riot caused by angry rock fans during the concert.

Just as it seems that everyone is going to go to jail and the ski hill is lost, they are all saved by a benefactor from City Hall. An unexpected bonus comes with a huge amount of money from the arts and crafts sale. Even MTV wants to come back the following year and tape more of the mass destruction that was Skistock. Fred is arrested as the instigator of the concert riot and building fire.

The ski hill is rebuilt and Rob, Carol, Sandy, Mike, and Clair become owners, running the business of their dreams.
