THE GIRL SCOUT

THE GIRL SCOUT
By Peter R. Feuchtwanger

GENRE: Action, Family
LOGLINE: A young single mother takes it upon herself to go up in the Rocky Mountains - facing all nature has to throw at her - to rescue her 11-year-old son after a perfect storm of events hits a Scout outing and he’s accidentally left behind.

SYNOPSIS:

Jane Beaufort got pregnant in high school, waylaying her plans to become a doctor. Instead, she’s become an EMT. Her son, Will, has been - on the surface - a source of resentment in that regard. Now, he's about to advance in the Scouts that wouldn't let her join as a girl. But when the Scoutmaster suffers a head trauma, Jane is unsure whether to trust the incompetent assistant to take the kids camping in The Rockie. Eventually, though, she relents. A misread weather report and bear attack later, all her fears are fully realized. To make matters worse, Will was accidentally left behind in the rush to leave the campsite. With Rocky Mountain Rescue stretched thin, Jane goes up to find her boy, using her childhood knowledge of self-taught scout trainin. Together and apart, they face wolves, coyotes, bobcats, pumas, rapids, and an avalanche. Throughout the fight to survive, Jane comes to realize just how important her son is to her, and how deep the love she has for him really is.
