SYNOPSIS:

LOGLINE

When a smaller asteroid devastates part of Earth and cripples global communications, a brilliant cryptographer working inside a Swedish Cold War bunker discovers a civilization-ending asteroid is only days away. To save humanity, she must unite the last surviving world powers and unlock a secret missile defense system designed by the father she spent her life condemning.

SYNOPSIS

After a devastating asteroid impact triggers worldwide communications failures, satellite outages, and cascading infrastructure collapse, the Hallberg Facility—a former Cold War nuclear bunker buried deep beneath Sweden and now operating as one of the world's most secure data centers—finds itself transformed into humanity's last communications hub.

As governments struggle to assess the extent of the disaster, cryptographer Dr. Nadia Volkov uncovers an even more terrifying truth: the first impact was merely a precursor. A second asteroid, large enough to end civilization, is on a direct collision course with Earth and only days remain before impact.

Trapped underground with a small team of engineers, military strategists, and scientists, Nadia learns that humanity's only hope lies in PERIMETER, a highly classified orbital defense system conceived during the Cold War. The system was intentionally designed so that no single nation could control it. Its launch authorization was fragmented among rival powers, requiring unprecedented international cooperation to activate.

As surviving governments cling to old rivalries and mistrust, Nadia is forced to confront a deeply personal revelation. The architect of PERIMETER was her father, a Soviet missile engineer she publicly exposed decades earlier, believing he had dedicated his life to building weapons of mass destruction. Estranged until his death, Nadia has spent years running from his legacy. Now she discovers that the system she despised may be the very thing capable of saving humanity.

With the clock ticking toward extinction, the bunker becomes the center of a desperate global effort to reconnect the last surviving command centers on Earth. As nations face the choice between self-preservation and cooperation, Nadia must decide whether she can trust the legacy of the man she never forgave—and whether humanity can overcome its divisions long enough to survive.

UNDER A BURNING SKY is a contained, high-concept science-fiction thriller that combines the emotional depth of a family drama with the global stakes of a disaster epic. Set primarily within a single underground location, it explores themes of reconciliation, sacrifice, and the fragile bonds that unite humanity when everything else falls apart.
