By Chad Howell

GENRE: Drama, Crime
LOGLINE:

Based on a true story, a teenage boy with severe OCD is sent to Elan, a notorious behavioral modification school, where he endures abuse, brainwashing, attack therapy, humiliation, and false imprisonment—uncovering the dark truth behind a system built on control and beginning a fight not just for freedom, but for his identity.

SYNOPSIS:

When teenager Matt is sent away to Elan, a secluded behavioral modification school in the Maine woods, his parents believe they’re giving him a second chance. Diagnosed with severe OCD and struggling to fit in, Matt arrives hoping for healing—but quickly discovers Elan is anything but therapeutic.

Inside its locked doors, Matt is thrust into a brutal regime of attack therapy, public humiliation, and psychological manipulation. Staff and students alike enforce a twisted hierarchy built on fear, where obedience is survival and dissent is punished with isolation, violence, and false imprisonment. As Matt’s mental health deteriorates under the weight of relentless abuse, he begins to question not only the system around him, but the very core of who he is.

Through stolen moments of clarity and fragile alliances with fellow inmates, Matt uncovers the dark legacy of Elan—a place designed not to heal, but to break. With his identity on the line, he must summon the courage to resist, reclaim his voice, and expose the truth behind a school that thrives on silence.

Elan is a haunting, emotionally charged journey based on true events, exploring the resilience of the human spirit in the face of institutional cruelty—and the power of one boy’s fight to be seen.
