A HAPP"E" PLACE
By Bernard Mersier

GENRE: Other
LOGLINE:

Haunted by a fleeting vision of serenity being drug-free, Justin must choose between chasing a dream of recovery or succumbing to the crushing reality of his addiction.

SYNOPSIS:

On a clear spring day, Justin comes walking down the path in the park carrying a paper bag and a styrofoam cup. He takes a seat on the bench and inhales a deep breath of fresh air, releasing the pleasing thought of being clean from drugs for eight years. He begins explaining his story about the pros and cons of his drug adventures, but now, he understands why people were telling him he should enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

Opening the bag, he removes some soup crackers and then walks over to the pond to feed the ducks, while he continues explaining his story. Pausing from feeding the ducks, he removes his sunglasses, and now he’s back in his cluttered room with drugs and a gun on the table in front him. Now… He explains how addicts can never shake the monkey on their back, especially if they remain around it, so there’s only one thing that can be done.
