Jack Kerouac’s road across America is an alcohol-soaked, drug-infused, sexually charged superhighway paved with poetry, jazz and love. The Beat Generation icon’s journey of spiritual discovery ultimately ends in heartache and regret. Yet at the end of his tragically short life, one man helps Jack face the torments of his painful childhood, conquer the demons of fame and fortune, and find peace in a lost friendship. For Jack Kerouac, this is WHERE THE ROAD ENDS.

SYNOPSIS:

Ronnie Lowe, the leader of the house band of a seedy bar befriends the house drunk who he laters discovers is Jack Kerouac, the author of “On the Road,” a book that changed Ronnie’s life.

Jack senses a kindred spirit in Ronnie and tells him the story of his humble roots as a printer’s son in Lowell, Massachusetts and the tragic death of his saintly older brother Gerard that set him on a road to seek redemption for being the one who survived. But he also tells him of the excitement and passions that were later defined as The Beat Generation and especially meeting Neal Cassady, the man who would change Jack’s life and become his muse and inspiration for changing the face of literature.

Neal opens Jack to a new way of seeing the world like free form Jazz and the two men share everything including women. Jack is able to chronicle these adventures in “On the Road” which becomes an overnight success. Their great friendship is strained when Jack falls in love with Neal’s wife Carolyn and is finally broken when Neal reads Jack’s novel for the first time and sees that Jack portrayed him as a sex-crazed, manic clown.

On the Road becomes an overnight success and Jack is thrust into the world of the celebrity elite. Neal becomes the star of the novel and becomes a celebrity himself. Neither man can handle the limelight and they succumb to the demons of fame. After Neal dies alone in Mexico, Jack realizes it’s only a matter of time before his alcohol-soaked body gives out as well.

After hearing Jack’s tragic tale, Ronnie embarks on a one man crusade to help Jack find the peace and redemption he desperately needs WHERE THE ROAD ENDS.
