Carla King is a single mom with a voice like gold and a mortgage to match — but when her career hinges on a high-stakes karaoke event, she crosses paths with the seductive owner of a popular karaoke app whose pursuit of her project’s funding — and her — threatens to derail everything she’s worked for.
SYNOPSIS:
CARLA KING, 30s, seems to have it all: beauty, wit, and a successful career, yet this 30-something-year-old single Mother struggles with the tragic loss of her husband.
Her best friend NIKKI, and secret office crush, ANDRE, introduce her to the world of online Karaoke, where she meets the genius behind the growing trend, Sterling. Sparks fly and Carla begins to feel the warmth of life again.
After unforeseen events threaten Carla's international client, she goes to Sterling with a proposal to save her project. The undercover playboy uses the opportunity to slither his way into Carla's heart, and her project funds, and relishes a successful end to his latest conquest. Meanwhile, Andre sees through Sterling's games and enlists Nikki to help show Carla who Sterling really is.

Gregory Bonds, The idea of rekindling a lost passion through a Karaoke app feels timely and fresh, and the romantic subplot adds tension. To elevate the logline, consider tightening the phrasing and clarifying the main conflict: what exactly is at risk in her career, and what does she stand to gain or lose emotionally? Making the character’s arc more specific will help the story stand out in the genre.
